President Ram Chandra Poudel expressed condolences to Ambassador Hanan Goder for the tragic loss of lives in the recent terror attack by Hamas militants in Israel.

Paying a courtesy call by the Israeli envoy Goder with President Poudel  held at the Office of the President at Shital Niwas Maharajgunj, Kathmandu Tuesday this morning President Poudel strongly condemned the heinous attacks by rebel groups and vows Nepal is always with Israel.

In response, Israeli Ambassador Goder thanked President Poudel and appreciated the messages of solidarity sent by the Government of Nepal and thousands of Nepali individuals from various walks of life.

Israel always counts cooperation received from Nepal as a valuable support since the establishment of diplomatic relationships between the two countries on June 1, 1960.

Nepal is the first South Asian state to establish full bilateral ties with Isreal.

Hamas launched rockets against Israel and attacked civilian targets from the ground during a Jewish holiday on October 7 2023 and Israel responded with retaliatory strikes declaring war and launched “Operation Swords of Iron,” striking what it says are Hamas and Islamic Jihad targets in Gaza.

According to the report, over 4,000 people have been killed in Israel and Gaza since Hamas launched its bloody rampage and nearly 199 people are being held hostage by Hamas and other Palestinian militants in Gaza that includes Israelis, American, Nepali, Thai and other citizens including children.

As per the international media reports, so far over 1,400 Israelis and 2,600 Palestinians have been killed in the war and around 10,000 people wounded on both sides. The number is expected to rise

The war has led to the deaths or injuries of thousands of people on both sides.

Israel has also blocked supply lines of basic necessities to the Gaza population, including fuel and water.

As of late Monday, the war was expected to escalate through an imminent ground invasion by Israeli forces into the Gaza Strip, a densely populated Palestinian enclave controlled by Hamas.

According to reports. at least forty-four nations including the United States and other Western countries have widely condemned the initial attacks by Hamas fighters that killed hundreds of Israelis, mostly civilians.

The US and Western countries have branded Hamas as a terrorist group and decried its tactics as terrorism.

In other side, Gulf countries regional players such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Middle East’s Syria and Iraq have pinned responsibility on Israel.
