In the aim of the State of Qatar’s drive to boost road safety and tighten enforcement of traffic laws, Qatar is rolling out a new traffic regulation beginning September 1, 2024.
According to the Qatari Ministry of Interior (MOI), anyone with outstanding traffic violations will face a travel ban—by land, air, or sea—until their dues are settled.
Radar systems are now closely monitoring compliance with seatbelt use, speed limits, and phone usage behind the wheel. These measures have reduced road fatalities by over 32% in the past two years, MOI informed.
The MOI has been offering a 50% discount on traffic fines since June 1, 2024. This discount is available to all—citizens, residents, visitors, and GCC nationals—on violations recorded within the past three years. However, this offer package ends on August 31, 2024.
