Qatar has announced the establishment of Hamad Bin Khalifa Charitable Foundation.

QR20 million has been allocated to establish and operate the Foundation aiming to improve the standard of living of needy people, especially Qataris, and to provide social care and financial and moral support to them in the fields of education, health and other social development sectors, and to identify and meet their needs, inside and outside Qatar.

Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani is a former Amir of the State of Qatar.

Born in January 1952 in Doha he is believed to be one of its iconic leaders, and the architect of its modern revival who ruled Qatar from on 27 June 1995 until His Highness Sheikh Hamad handed over the reins of leadership to his Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad 25 June 2013.

According to the Official Gazette published, the Hamad Bin Khalifa Charitable Foundation is a private organization that will work for public benefit contributing its fund to social and human development in the State of Qatar and abroad, and to provide support and social care to those in need.

It enjoys complete independence in practicing its activities and has a legal entity with limited liability and an independent financial status said the Gazette notice adding will operate in accordance with the bylaws issued by the founder and the provisions of Decree Law No. (21) of 2006 and its amendments apply to it.

The Foundation’s headquarters shall be based in Qatar and may establish branches and centers wherever needed accordingly, the foundation noted.
