Nepal Police gets 31st IGP

Additional Inspector General (AIG) Deepak Thapa has been appointed Inspector General of Nepal Police.

Government of Nepal on Monday named Thapa as 31st chief of Nepal Police effective Tuesday March 18 after compulsory retirement of incumbent IGP Basant Kunwar effective Monday.

Thapa succeeded to garner the chief post lagging behind his running mates AIGs Tek Bahadur Tamang and Sudip Giri.

Thapa hails from Sipadol of Bhaktapur district and has been working in the Nepal Police force since 1995 as Inspector.

After joining the police service, Thapa had served in various parts of Nepal.

According to the Nepal Police regulations of 30-year service IGP Thapa, before his compulsory retirement in six months, will lead the security force organization Nepal Police of nearly 80,000 personnel established in 1955 AD working under the motto of Truth, Service & Security.
