A team of 60 Israeli volunteers has completed volunteering programs across eight government and public schools in Kathmandu and Lalitpur, as well as engaged two-day with the children from Down Syndrome Society Nepal.

The volunteers from “Heroes for Life”, an Israeli NGO, arrived in Nepal in two batches consisting of 30 people in each team, said the press release of the Embassy of Israel in Kathmandu.

Heroes for Life operates in 18 countries around the world. But in Nepal, they began volunteering in 2017.

The first batch volunteered from 4-17 September while the second batch volunteered from 28 September-8 October, 2026, the release reads.

They volunteered in Prabhat Secondary School, Hindu Vidyapeetham, Shanti Sikchhya Mandir, Kitini Higher Secondary School, Annapurna Secondary School, Shree Narayan Jan Secondary School, Panchayan Celestial School, and Shree Nandi Ratri Secondary School.

Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Israel, Ms. Janan Bebar hosted a farewell ceremony for the volunteers and acknowledged their commitments to contributing to the local communities.

“The spirit of resilience and giving back to society are integral to Israeli culture. Through your volunteer work in Nepal, you have put this spirit into action, making a meaningful contribution to schools and local communities while strengthening the bonds of friendship between our two countries,” she said.

As part of its continued engagement in Nepal, Heroes for Life returns to the same schools every year with a new group of volunteers, bringing fresh perspectives and renewed energy to the initiative, while maintaining continuity in their work and ensuring a lasting impact.

The organization also works with new schools each year, expanding the reach of its volunteer initiative in coordination with the Embassy of Israel in Nepal, the release added.
