Sharing, learning network organized to KOICA’s scholarship fellows

14 officials from various sectors of Nepal Government are leaving to Korea within this month (August 2022) to pursue their Master’s degree on different courses from various universities of Korea.

In order to facilitate the 2022 group of Master’s Program, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and KOICA Alumni Association of Nepal (KAAN) organized a virtual Networking Meeting today (August 09).

The sharing and learning have provided wide-knowledge including the program, varsity information, social-life in Korea etc. to the students-group 2022 who are going to pursue their Master degrees from the existing Masters fellows of 2021, Masters fellows of 2022, KAAN members who shared their experiences and other valuable facts and figures.

Extending congratulations, KOICA Country Director, Sunghoon Ko shared the experience of development of Korea and the important role of capacitated human resource and their role in nation building.

“I hope that after completion of the Master’s course, the public sector officials will be able to contribute their gained knowledge for the development of Nepal as well as support in facilitating Nepal and Korea relations,” the Country Director Ko stressed.

Capacity Improvement and Advancement for Tomorrow (CIAT) is one of the important fields that has been implemented by KOICA as a development cooperation program since 1995.

CIAT focuses on leading human resources development (HRD) through short-term capacity building training sharing Korea’s experience and technology for development and Master’s degree Scholarship Program for government officials.

Over 2000 government officials have attended KOICA’s Capacity Building Program training and 148 government officials have successfully completed Master’s Degree Course under KOICA’s Scholarship Program.

Beside the long-term program, KOICA is also implementing short-term fellowship programs. But, since the outbreak of the COVID-19, KOICA has been organizing Capacity Building Program training via virtual way.

Meanwhile, under technical support, KOICA is to run training programs on old-age income security through Korean pension scheme and social security, cybercrime, gender sensitive educational environment, sustainable and rural development, macro-economic development strategy, meteorological issues and early warning system etc. by October 2022.

The vivid-programs to be implemented, under the special request by the Government of Nepal, are likely to be participated in by over 120 government officials.
