From Friday midnight vehicles allow to ply on odd, even number basis

Government of Nepal has stated that vehicles both (four wheelers and two wheelers) will be allowed to drive in the Kathmandu Valley on the basis of odd and even number plate effective from Friday January 21 midnight.

The rules will not be affected to vehicles carrying drugs and health supplies, ambulances, fire engines, hearses, gas, petroleum products, food grains, dairy products, fruits, vegetables, water, eggs, fish, poultry products and animal husbandry products (with only driver and assistant).

Similarly, vehicles carrying construction materials (driver and assistant) will also not be affected.

Likewise, vehicles used by government employees, doctors, health workers, security personnel and employees of public institutions including bank, insurance, financial institution, airline company, postal and courier services are to be allowed on the basis of their identity card.

The rules will not apply to the vehicles used by the employees of the telecommunication service providers.

Also the vehicles used by the media persons carrying their press pass issued by the Department of Information and Broadcasting will not be stopped.

Acting Chief District Officer of the Kathmandu District Administration Office, Suprabha Khanal Dhungel also clarified that government vehicles and vehicles of diplomatic missions are also not to be affected by the rule.
