The total population of Qatar dropped to 2.629 million by the end of May 2021.
It is an annual decrease of 6.4 per cent as compared to the same month (May 2020) last year, as per the data reveled by the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA).
“The number of people in Qatar at the end of May reached 2,628,512, with a monthly decrease of 0.7 per cent compared to last April.
According to PSA’s website, this data represents the number of individuals of all ages within the country as on May 31, 2021.
It does not include Qatari nationals living outside the borders of the country at the moment of monitoring the statement on May 31, 2021 PSA said. However, PSA has not revealed the number of Qatari citizens living outside the border at the moment.
The statistics also do not include non-Qataris living inside the country.
However, the current population of Qatar is 2,925,478 as of Wednesday, June 2, 2021 based on Worldometer elaboration of the latest United Nations data.
So while compared to both the data nearly 300,000 Qatari nationals are living abroad.
According to UN data, Qatar’s population is equivalent to 0.04% of the total world population.
