Amid the news of the US invitation to Taiwan in democracy dialogue comes the tensions between Beijing and Washington over the status of Taiwan and trade issues is growing.
In this connection, the US government on Wednesday added a dozen Chinese companies to its national security and foreign policy trade blacklists.
Citing in some cases those firms’ help developing the Chinese military’s quantum computing efforts, the blacklist was revealed, indicating the US Department of Commerce adding several entities and individuals from China and Pakistan were added for contributing to Pakistan’s nuclear activities or ballistic missile programme.
Firms from Pakistan, Japan and Singapore were also among the 27 new entities added to the list – but the move stirred an angry response in Beijing on Thursday, nonetheless.
