Qatar marks National Day

Qatar is an Arab country of water and deserts. According to a treaty signed with the British in 1868, Qatar was ruled by the “House of Thani.”

But almost over a century, Qatar gained Independence from the UK on September 3, 1971 during the rule of Sheikh Jassim. Since then, Qataris have been celebrating National Day with full enthusiasm every year.

Prior to a decree in June 2007, Qatar National Day was annually celebrated on September 3, marking the day of Qatar’s independence in 1971. But afterwards, Qatar begins to mark National Day on December 18 with a public holiday every year marking the date of succession to the throne of the founder of the State of Qatar Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani on December 18, 1878 who ruled until 1913.

For entire Qatari citizens December 18 is an important day marking the unification of Qatar by its founder, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani to dedicate it as an opportunity and encouragement of being a citizen of the sovereign nation.

Yes, National Day holds prime value for all the nations as it is a day of happiness that makes the mind fresh, relaxed, memorize values of unity, remember histories, and pay homage to nation building heroes. National Day contributes to the consolidation of the values of loyalty, solidarity and cohesion among the citizens making pride, love, sincerity towards the country and leadership.

With the vision of unity, loyalty and pride to honor the Thani’s Victory against the Ottomans, Qataris are celebrating National Day, just around the corner now, with great enthusiasm marking various activities, including displaying Qatari flags nationwide, lightening houses and decorating Qatar National Day Photos 2024.

Doha Corniche comes alive with military parades reflecting the pride and values of unity and harmony between all Qataris. The major roads are set with big and bold National Day images and flags to make it more winsome. The National Day comes to an end with a fireworks display.

Qataris spreading around the world are going to celebrate Qatar National Day 2024 with joyful and remarkable activities on December 18-Wednesday.

The Government of the State of Qatar also marked the Qatar National Day events in the country and around the world marking various events in which distinguished personalities of the various walks-of-life are to be attended with enthusiasm that prolongs till next year.

According to the Qatar National Day Organizing Committee, Qatar National Day 2024 is being marked under the slogan “Together We Rise” that symbolizes Qatar’s resilience, progress, and shared vision for the future that encapsulates the nation’s commitment to unity, inclusivity, and continuous growth achieved across various sectors.

Also, it visions Qatar’s journey towards becoming a global leader reminding the collective efforts made by its citizens and expatriates in shaping Qatar a successful nation advancing infrastructure and economic development with dedication to excellence.

The day brings all Qatari citizens to recall the renaissance and refinement offered by the beloved nation and to admire nation builders with sincerity. The day is also to strengthen bonds with leadership for the nation building task.

Even overcome many challenges, the visionary leader His Highness Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani turns those hurdles into opportunities for development and prosperity under “Qatar National Vision 2030” has developed modern Qatar’s infrastructures and pave the way of ascending economic growth which have been considered as a global model “renaissance” for remarkable gains “in a short period of time” by the world.

Today, Qatar is one of the cleanliness, safest, richest nations with world class development infrastructures heightening international image of political, social, and economical. Capital city Doha is considered to be an “International Floor of MICE” and “Gateway of the World.” With successfully hosting the world-class sporting event FIFA World Cup 2022, a golden page of Qatar has written in the history.

Besides hosting internationally important meetings, seminars, cultural and sports events, Qatar’s solidarity and mutual benefits-based strategy has accomplished to win Qatar’s diplomacy as “weighted” and “friendliness.” Thus, without doubt, Qatar is able and ready to shoulder any kind of leadership in the world forums.

Nepal and Qatar established diplomatic relations on January 21, 1977. Since then, both the nations have been enjoying cordial and friendly relationships based on mutual trust, respect, understanding and cooperation.

People-to-people exchange has been ongoing reflecting the realistic advancement in our two countries’ relations. Nearly 500,000 Nepalese along with thousands of people from various countries have been contributing to make today’s Qatar. 

Moreover, Qatar Airways’ direct flights between Kathmandu and Doha is also a milestone in two nations’ relationships.

Being one of the close-friendliest nations Nepal feels pride to see Qatar as a developed nation with a booming economy. Nepal always remembers Qatar’s unwavering support, assistance, friendship and extended hospitality. Thus, Nepal is proud of its partnership alliance with Qatar. Let’s strengthen our 47th year of diplomatic relations by joining hands of cooperation in the international forums in the days ahead.

Celebration of Qatar National Day would be an opportunity to seek inspiration from the friendly nation’s visionary leaders’ thoughts, embody policies and plans needed for nation building with dedication to nationalism.
