Venezuelan politician María Corina Machado wins 2025 Nobel Peace Prize

Ms. María Corina Machado has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize 2025.

According to The Norwegian Nobel Committee the prestigious prize was given to a Venezuelan politician who is tirelessly working for promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy’.

Also, her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy, added the Nobel Committee.

Born on October 7, 1967 in Caracas, Venezuela Ms. María Corina Machado Parisca, an industrial engineer, entered into politics in 2002 by establishing the Sumate organization and became a member of the National Assembly of Venezuela from 2011 to 2014.

She is a prominent opposition leader, she served as a Machado began her political career in 2002 as a founder of the vote-monitoring organization Súmate.

Established 1895 The Nobel Peace Prize is one of the five Nobel Prizes established by the will of Swedish industrialist, inventor, and armaments manufacturer Alfred Nobel.

Besides, Peace prize, the Nobel prize is also awarded in Chemistry, Physics, Physiology or Medicine, and Literature.

The Nobel Prize was first awarded on December 10, 1901.

Meanwhile, various distinguished people around the world have congratulated Ms,  Maria on winning the coveted Nobel Prize 2025.

In this regard, Sweden based an independent international institute dedicated to research into conflict, armaments, arms control and disarmament SIPRI congratulates Ms. María Corina Machado on the award of the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize.

‘In awarding the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize to María Corina Machado, the Norwegian Nobel Committee highlights her courage and commitment in defending democracy in Venezuela and unifying opposition to the ruling regime,’ said SIPRI Director Karim Haggag.

The UN human rights office, OHCHR on Friday welcomed the Nobel Peace Prize committee’s decision to name Maria Machado as this year’s laureate, in recognition of her work promoting the Venezuelan people’s democratic hopes.

In another news, according to a video sent by her press team to the AFP news agency, Nobel Peace Prize 2025 winner Ms. Machado reacts “I am in shock to learn that I have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.”
