Smoking is injurious to health. Smoking damages human’s various organs, reduces reproductive health and likely creates various risks to others through secondhand smoke. It can reduce life expectancy, damage lungs could cause heart disease, stroke, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
In this concern, recently a report has been published saying that the United Kingdom has banned making it illegal for anyone born after 2008 to ever buy tobacco products and from ever buying tobacco. The large numbers of Uk citizens seem to be supportive of a ban on smoking.
With the introduction of new regulations effective Tuesday, an entire generation of young people will never be allowed to buy cigarettes or vapes throughout the United Kingdom.
Following the popular statement: “Prevention is better than cure”, the UK government believes that the growing problems of preventable death, disability and poor health could be stopped that will save lives to build a healthier Britain.
According to the newly implemented law, it is currently illegal to sell tobacco products to anyone below the age of 18 in the UK. From 2027, the legal age for the sale of tobacco products will increase by one year every year, meaning that individuals born since January 1, 2009, will never be able to buy them.
However, the law applies only to those who sell tobacco products – people will not be punished for buying, possessing or using them, regardless of their age, the report said.
Vaping will be banned in playgrounds, outside schools and in hospitals, inside public and commercial buildings as well as in cars carrying children.
“Smoking is responsible for 80,000 deaths a year in the UK, and one in four of all cancer-related deaths. No other consumer product kills up to two-thirds of its users,” ASH said.
