Nepal’s new ‘Tourism Policy’ launched

Aiming to enhance the entire Nepal’s tourism sector, the Government of Nepal brings out a new tourism policy on Monday.

Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey unveiled the ‘Tourism Policy 2082’ amidst a program on Monday.

“The government is ready to join hands for the promotion, development of the Nepal’s tourism businesses under the new policy’s slogan “Nepal: A Unique Tourist Destination”, that has wide range of initiatives and facilitation for the promotion of adventure tourism to cultural tourism, religious, spiritual and traditional to natural healing tourism, ecotourism to sports tourism, culinary heritage to business tourism and MICE with qualitative through diversification and innovation.

Minister Pandey pledged hand-to-hand cooperation with the private sector and also urged private sectors to play a leading role for the promotion and development of tourism as the country has set an ambitious goal of 150 million tourists by 2030.

He also lauded the role of Non-Resident Nepalese Association, Honorary Consuls of Nepal, Tourism Representatives of Nepal and various other groups and personalities in the development of Nepal’s tourism.

Nepal is rich in scenic nature and diverse culture lies in the lap of the pretty, peaceful and cool Himalayas in between China and India, it is like a garden full of beautiful flowers of varied colours and literature, art, culture, schools of thought and philosophy in full bloom.

A center of Himalayan civilization and culture as a multilingual and multiracial nation, Nepal is a home of about 30 million people of 70 ethnic groups peacefully coexisting with a reach mixture of unique cultures proudly preserved; mind boggling adventure and remarkable natural beauty where visitors can revitalize their mind, body and soul along with age-old traditional hospitality.

The 41st Tourism Minister of the country also informed that separate culture policy and aviation policy would also be implemented and will create bodies as necessary to formulate the tourism policy at the best.

Tourism is an economic contributor for many nations. According to Nepal Tourism Board sources, tourism in Nepal contributes about 6.7% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).
