After a month of historic Gen-Z protest that toppled down the majority government of Nepali Congress and NCP-UML the civic government’s cabinet decision has recalled 11 Nepali Ambassadors giving November 6 dateline to be arrived home country.
According to the government decision sources Minister for Communications and Information Technology informed that Ambassadors to China, Germany, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States of America were recalled.
Prof. Dr Krishna Prasad Oli, Dr. Shail Rupakheti, Professor Dhan Prasad Pandit, Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi, Dr. Netra Prasad Timilsina, Ramesh Chandra Poudel, Jung Bahadur Chauhan, Naresh Bikram Dhakal, Sanil Nepal, Chandra Kumar Ghimire, and Lokdarshan Regmi who are serving as an ambassador to the above countries respectively are being recalled.
Ambassador to China, Malaysia, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States of America were appointed by the UML party whereas Ambassador to Germany, Israel, Japan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Spain were appointed by the Nepali Congress.
However, ambassadors to Australia, India, South Africa were also appointed by the Nepali Congress Party.
Likewise, ambassadors to Denmark, South Korea and Sri Lanka were appointed from the UML quota.
Ambassadors serving to Austria, Belgium, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brazil, Egypt, France, Kuwait, Myanmar, Oman, Pakistan, Portugal, Thailand, United Arab Emirates are career diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Nepal has 31 embassies, 3 permanent missions in New York, Vienna and Geneva and 9 Consulate Generals abroad.
Nepal hosts 25 embassies of foreign nations. Kathmandu also hosts SAARC Secretariat, Office of the European Union and the UN Office and Consulate General of India in Birgunj.
Nepal also hosts 63 Honorary Consuls of various countries.
