Over 65,000 Nepalis register on Online Portal amid West Asia tensions

As of today, 65,886 Nepali citizens have registered their details on the online registration system launched by the Consular Service Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following the conflict in West Asia.

The Ministry stated that necessary actions are being processed after studying the details registered. Conflict has escalated in West Asia following attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran. The online portal was launched by the Department on Falgun 18 for purposes including the rescue and necessary assistance of Nepali citizens from the region, said a news report of RSS.

Department Director General Duparda Sapkota informed that details of Nepali citizens are being collected through the Nepali embassies in that region on the portal.

The Ministry and Nepali missions in the region remain continuously active to ensure the safety, interests, and welfare of Nepali citizens in West Asia. Ministry Spokesperson Lok Bahadur Poudel Chhetri informed that Nepali missions in the region are continuously coordinating for the rescue and assistance of Nepalis facing problems, the reports added.

As per the decision of the second meeting of the ‘Emergency Response Team’ formed under the coordination of Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai, all missions in West Asia have been directed to contact Nepalis in trouble via email, phone, or other appropriate means, boost morale, and report back with their feedback, he stated.

The Ministry has also requested all Nepali citizens in the West Asia region to remain calm, aware, and vigilant, and to refrain from recording and exchanging any kind of photo, video, or audio material that violates the law, it added.
