US civil rights leader Jesse Louis Jackson has died early Tuesday Chicago, his daughter Santita Jackson confirmed saying that her father died at home, surrounded by family announced in a statement on Tuesday.
Born on October 8, 1942 in South Carolina Lackson is an ordained Baptist minister and a civil rights leader who bridged the era of Martin Luther King Jr. with the modern world was 84 year old.
Jackson was an inspirational orator and American civil rights champion as well as politician who sought the 1984 and 1988 Democratic presidential nomination.
“Our father was a servant leader – not only to our family, but to the oppressed, the voiceless, and the overlooked around the world,” stated the Jackson family.
Jackson has been married three times and was living with current wife Emily Besselink. He has four children.
