Dr. Kang is the first woman to serve as Minister of Foreign Affairs (2017 to 2021) in South Korea’s history.
An accomplished diplomat had previously held key leadership roles at the United Nations from Minister at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Korea to the UN, and various senior positions during Secretaries-Generals Kofi Annan, Ban Ki-moon, and António Guterres, said the Asia society information.
“I am deeply honored and excited to be Asia Society’s next President and CEO,” said a Distinguished Professor at the Institute for Global Engagement and Empowerment at Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea.
Beginning her career as a journalist, Dr. Kang is the recipient of South Korea’s various medals.
