The 5th African Business and Human Rights Forum has ended in Dakar with participants calling for stronger implementation of human rights and environmental standards in business operations across Africa, writes Winston Mwale.
The forum was held under the theme “Realizing the Right to a Clean, Healthy and Sustainable Environment through Responsible Business Conduct.”
Discussions focused on translating environmental protections into practice and integrating Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence (HREDD) into corporate risk management, supply chains and regulatory frameworks.
Participants were also invited to look ahead to the 15th Annual Forum on Business and Human Rights, scheduled to take place in Geneva in 2027.
