United Arab Emirates’ cities Abu Dhabi and Ajman have been rated as the world’s safest cities.
According to Numbeo’s latest Crime Index 2024 Mid-Year report researched among 311 global cities with 11.8 pts Dubai ranked first whereas Ajman secured 15.8 pts followed by Doha the capital city of Qatar secured 16.1 points.

Rounding up the top-five cities with the highest crime rates South Africa’s Pietermaritzburg with 82.5 points and Pretoria with 81.9 points were found to have the highest crime rates in the world. Likewise, Caracas of Venezuela gets 81.7 points, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea 80.9 and South Africa’s Johannesburg 80.8.
Numbeo’s Crime Index is an estimation of the overall level of crime in a given city or country. Numbeo’s Crime Index considers crime levels lower than 20 as very low, between 20 and 40 as low, 40 and 60 as moderate, 60 and 80 as high, and higher than 80 as very high.
Tracing back, Qatar was crowned the most peaceful country in the Middle East and North Africa in 2023. In fact, the country achieved a crime rate of 0.00 per 100,000 people in 2022.
