Maha Prasad Adhikari new NRB Governor

Maha Prasad Adhikari will take charge of the new Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) that lying vacant since March 18 after the completion of five-year term period of the then Governor.

The meeting of the cabinet held Monday afternoon at the official resident of Prime Minister at Baluwatar Maha Prasad Adhikari was appointed to the Governor of the Central Bank of Nepal (NRB) among the three names that was recommended by a recommendation committee led by Minister of Finance Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada along with former secretary Krishnahari Baskota and former governor Bijayanath Bhattarai.

The other two unlucky candidates recommended on the list to the cabinet were former finance secretary Dr. Rajan Khanal and acting Governor of the NRB Chintamani Siwakoti.

Adhikari is serving as a Chief Executive Officer at Nepal Investment Board. Prior to this, he was also a deputy governor of the NRB and was retired at the age background.

It is also believed that when Dr. Yubraj Khatiwada was a Governor of the NRB Adhikari was a deputy governor and had helped much to Khatiwada to be a successful Governor by implementing various fiscal policies. Since then, they had a very close contact.
