Every year on October 26 Austrians celebrate their country’s National Day.

A landlocked country in Central Europe, Austria lies in the Eastern Alps bordered by Germany to the northwest, the Czech Republic to the north, Slovakia to the northeast, Hungary to the east, Slovenia and Italy to the south, and Switzerland and Liechtenstein to the west.

Austria celebrates its National Day in commemoration of the passing of the constitutional law on declaration of permanent neutrality after World War II and regained status as an independent and sovereign nation on October 26, 1955.

Austria ranks as one of the wealthiest countries in Europe and the world with Vienna as the capital city and most populous area too.

Austria–Nepal diplomatic relations were established on 15 August 1959. Nepal established a residential embassy in Vienna in 2018 whereas Austria is represented in Nepal through its Embassy in New Delhi, India. However, Austria has an Honorary Consulate in Kathmandu.

According to the sources, it is estimated that around 1,200 Nepalese are living in Austria.

On this Auspicious National Day, we the foreign Affairs News Family would like to congratulate the people of Austria.

Let’s wish for a long-standing relationship between the two countries with cooperation that may bring greater prosperity between the people of the two nations.

Long live Austria-Nepal friendship.
