Nepal at 76th position as most peaceful nation

For every country peace is the foundation of prosperity where societies enjoy greater income growth, political stability also likely and a greater sense of happiness among their citizens.

Australia-based NGO Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP) assessed The Global Peace Index (GPI) measuring the relative position of nations’ and regions’ peacefulness.

The GPI ranks 163 independent states and territories.

Iceland is the most peaceful nation in the world. Iceland has been retaining the Most Peaceful Nation Tag since the 18th year.

According to the report, Icelanders can sleep well at night. There is no standing army, navy or air force and also enjoys record-low crime rates with government’s an enviable education and welfare system, good opportunity for jobs and subjective sense of well-being.

Among the South Asian countries, Nepal stands at 76th position. Bhutan is listed in 21st position. Sri Lank in 97th while China is in 98th and India stands at 115th and Bangladesh is in 123rd position.

Among the GCC nations, as per the report, Qatar again has been ranked the most peaceful country in the Middle East and North Africa for the 7th time in the 2025 Global Peace Index (GPI) assessed as the country of low crime rates, strong governance, and minimal military spending. Additionally, Qatar National Vision 2030 has also contributed to the GPI as the country has been marching ahead with a clear vision of sustainable development and societal well-being.

Despite conflict in Yemen, Syria and Sudan, Qatar is the only MENA nation that stands at 27th out of 163 countries assessed by the IEP using 23 indicators including safety and security, ongoing conflict, and militarization etc.

As the war and internal conflict ongoing, Yemen,   Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, Ukraine and Russia rank among the least peaceful nations.

Numbeo Healthcare Index

Taiwan, South Korea, Netherlands, Japan and Austria are the nations that top in the Numbeo Healthcare Index globally.

Nepal stands at 71th position. Sri Lanka is in 25th, China is in 37th, India is in 49th, Pakistan stands at 63rd and Bangladesh at 93rd among the 94 countries enlisted.

According to database encyclopedia Numbeo Healthcare Index Qatar ranked 21th globally. Qatar also tops among the Arab world, the Middle East, and North Africa.

The other countries in the GCC region, the United Arab Emirates stand at 30th position while Oman stands at 52nd position, Saudi Arabia is in 55th position, Kuwait stands at 67th.

Iraq, Montenegro, Bangladesh, Venezuela and Syria are the worst countries in the health Care index among the 99 countries listed by the Numbeo.
