US-Moldova ink air deal

The United States of America and the Republic of Moldova signed an Open Skies Air Transport Agreement.

The first bilateral air transport agreement negotiated by the two countries was inked on May 18 in Chisinau by the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard R. Verma and Moldova Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Lilia Dabija, with Prime Minister Dorin Recean, said the press note of the State Department.

The Agreement establishes a modern civil aviation relationship with Moldova which will enter into force following an exchange of diplomatic notes confirming that all necessary internal procedures for entry into force of the Agreement have been completed.

This Agreement will expand economic and commercial partnership, promote people-to-people ties, and create new opportunities for airlines, travel companies, and customers providing more affordable, convenient, and efficient air services promoting tourism and commerce for both the governments to high standards of aviation safety and security, it reads.
