United States Deputy Minister of Political Affairs Victoria Jane Nuland is arriving in Nepal on January 29, 2023 for a two-day visit.

During in Nepal, she will hold high-level meetings with the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister, high level other government figures and political leaders of Nepal.

Besides official talks she will also visit various places of cultural heritages.

Born on July 1, 1961, a U.S. diplomat for over three, Ambassador Nuland served as Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs from September 2013 until January 2017 under President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry.

Currently, she is an American diplomat serving as Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs since April 2021.

Prior to that, she worked as a Senior Consultant at the Albright Stonebridge Group, a global strategic consulting and commercial diplomacy firm based in Washington, DC.

She was the spokesperson of the State Department during the tenure of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and was the US Ambassador to NATO during the second term of President George W. Bush’s second term, 2005-2008.

Nuland served as Special Envoy and chief negotiator on the Treaty on Conventional Arms Control in Europe from 2010-2011, and as Deputy National Security Advisor to Vice President Dick Cheney from 2003-2005.

She has worked for two terms in Brussels-based NATO as well as in various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Washington.

She has served overseas in Russia, China and Mongolia, and in various assignments at the State Department in Washington.

A Graduate of Brown University, Ambassador Nuland was also a non-resident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, Distinguished Practitioner in Grand Strategy at Yale University, and a Member of the Board of the National Endowment for Democracy.

After concluding her mission in Nepal she is to leave the country on Monday evening.
