World Day

Today May 21 is World Communications Day. The 57th World Communications Day is being celebrated on the theme chosen by Pope Francis, is ‘Speaking with the Heart’.

World Communications Day was established by Pope Paul VI in 1967. Every year on the Sunday before Pentecost the Church celebrates the achievements of the communications media and focuses of how it can best use them to promote gospel values.

The celebration came in the wake of the Second Vatican Council, which realised it must engage fully with the modern world.

Communication is very important to connect the people allowing to express feelings, and share thoughts.

The Pope in his message on the occasion said, “It is the heart that spurred us to go, to see and to listen, and it is the heart that moves us towards an open and welcoming way of communicating.”

He urges parents to form their children to be discerning in their use of the media. Journalist urged to promote human dignity.
