To mark the National Day of Qatar, the Ambassador of Qatar to Nepal H.E. Mishal bin Mohammed Ali Al Ansari hosted a reception at the Soaltee Hotel in the capital Wednesday evening.
Qatar National Day falls on December 18 every year, however, the reception was organized a week earlier.
Vice President of Nepal Ram Sahaya Yadav was the chief guest at the function where people from various walks-of-life including the ministers of the Nepal government, high level political leaders, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, law makers, members of the diplomatic corps in Kathmandu, security personnels, journalists, entrepreneurs, social workers attended.
Welcoming the distinguished guests at the event, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Nepal H.E. Mishal bin Mohammed Ali Al Ansari said “Qatar celebrates its National Day on December 18 of each year marking the anniversary of the founding of the State of Qatar Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani on December 18, 1878.”
“Today, the State of Qatar has become a shining beacon in the trajectory of civilized achievements under the dynamic leadership of Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Enlightened by its National Vision 2030 deserved a prominent place for itself among civilized nations in light of balanced policies and openness to all countries of the world,” informed the Qatari envoy.
“Today, the world is witnessing numerous changes in politics, economy and society. Qatar continues to adopt a fixed policy of international cooperation that has strengthened its position in international relations enabling the role to play effectively,” he said.
“Qatar is firm on the charters of international law, the principles of peaceful coexistence, respect for human rights, pluralism and diversity, combating extremism and terrorism, along with consolidating the culture of global peace and stability,” Ambassador highlighted.
“Qatar economy has renewed its confidence in its strength in the regional and international arenas. Thus, today Qatar has been able to achieve progress in economic diversification that has enhanced the achievement of the self-sufficiency strategy,” he lauds.
“After the establishment of diplomatic relations between Qatar and Nepal on 21 January 1977, Qatar-Nepal relationships based on human and civilization values, friendship and joint cooperation have been strengthening,” said the Ambassador Al Ansari and informed that “Qatar opened its embassy in Kathmandu in August 2011 whereas Nepal opened its embassy in Doha on 11 July 2000.”
“I would also like to thank all Nepali friends who have contributed and are contributing to enriching and promoting the bilateral, friendly and continual ties of good intentions that has been benefiting the people of both the nations.”
He also lauds Qatar Airways’ role and contribution in the development of Nepal’s aviation field as well as tourism sector.
“Qatar Charity, Doha Bank and the Qatar Visa Center are also the partner institutions who have been playing roles in strengthening two countries’ relationships,” he informed.
He also lauded Nepali workers in Qatar for their die-heart contributions in making the modern-day Qatar and especially the contribution of Nepali workers during the pre-years of World Cup 2022 mega event hosted in Qatar which was praised by the world as one of the remarkable sporting festivals.
“Currently about four hundred thousand Nepalese are contributing their excellent services in the capacity of expatriates to the general service in Qatar,” the Qatari envoy Mishal bin Mohammed Ali Al Ansari said.
“It will be one of the priorities during my ambassadorial tenure in Nepal to follow up on the implementation of all the agreements and MoUs signed during the historical visit of Amir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Nepal in April of this year. I hope this visit has strengthened the knots of bilateral relations existing between Qatar and Nepal at the government and people’s level,” Ambassador Al Ansari concluded.
