Doha, Dubai see huge passengers, Saudia to add more flights during World Cup

Millions of passengers have been touched down in Qatar’s Doha based Hamad International Airport (HIA) in the first half of 2022.Accordingto Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) HIA witnessed15.6 million passengers till the end of June from January 2022.

It is an increase of over 164 per cent compared to the same period of last year, the QCAA said adding the number of passenger traffic in 2021 at the same period at HIA was 5.9 million.

Also, HIA had recorded a 39.3 per cent increase in aircraft movement and a 149.3 percent rise in passengers in June 2022, the QCAA tweeted.

In another report, dazzling city in the Gulf region, Dubai of the UAE which is also named one of the world’s safest city, has received over 7.12 million international passengers in the first six month. This is 183 per cent growth recorded, Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism revealed.

Meanwhile, during the 2022 FIFA World Cup scheduled to kick off in Qatar from November 21to December 18 there will be only one flight a day from Kathmandu.

Saudi Arabia’s national flag carrier, Saudia will operate hundreds of extra flights to Doha during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

As per the MoU sign between Qatar Airways and Saudia Airlines, Saudia will operate around 60 special daily flights starting November 21 from both Riyadh and Jeddah to Doha.

The MoU was signed in Doha, Qatar on Thursday by Saudia and Qatar Airways. CEO of Saudia, Captain Ibrahim S. Koshy and Qatar Airways group chief executive Akbar Al Baker inked the documents that will add additional flights operated by widebody aircraft.

Riyadh-Doha is approximately one hour thirty minutes flight whereas Jeddah-Doha flight time is two hours and 40 minutes.
