Prohibitory orders in Kathmandu Valley extended for a week more

The ongoing prohibitory orders in three districts of the Kathmandu Valley have been extended by one more week. 

A meeting of the Chief District Officers (CDOs) of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur decided Tuesday to extend a week-long ban that is — until June 3– in view of the escalating fears of the coronavirus pandemic, informed the CDO of Bhaktapur Prem Prasad Bhattarai.

Taking the lesson of the past days now the prohibitory orders will be tightened strictly, he said.

The prohibitory orders which are in force in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts since April 29, were earlier extended for two times. The recent extension was due to expire on May 27.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 16,338 are actively infected in Kathmandu, 7,152 in Lalitpur and 4,953 in Bhaktapur.

The Home Ministry has also said that the ban has been in force in 75 districts across the country.

Shops other than medicine, milk, vegetable and groceries will not be allowed to open in Kathmandu Valley.

As earlier, now the construction work will also be stopped completely, stated in the prohibitory order.
