Nepal and China held a virtual meeting over video Wednesday and discussed bilateral relations to coronavirus situation.
The 13th round of meeting was led by Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Shanker Das Bairagi whereas Chinese tem was headed by Vice Foreign Minister Luo Zhaohui.
According to MoFA, besides reviewing the agreements signed in the past, among other issues the meeting was basically an informal discussion to combat the coronavirus pandemic
Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador Hou Yanqi also said that the meeting remained “largely fruitful on combating coronavirus pandemic, bilateral relations, practical cooperation and others” in her Twitter account.
Nepal and China firmly support each other’s core interests and major concerns.
According to the sources, Chinese side stressed on need of both the nations to focus on implementing the outcomes of last year’s Nepal visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping and strengthening cooperation in fighting COVID-19.”
“Jointly building the “One Belt One Road” initiative, strengthen coordination in international and regional affairs, and promote greater development of bilateral relations in various areas and people-to-people and cultural exchanges,” was also on the top list-agenda, the sources added.
However, Nepal will continue to firmly adhere to the ‘One-China’ policy in international forum.
