Korean medical aid to Nepal: RoK envoy hands over to State Minister Shrestha

Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nepal Park Chong-suk handed over 94 units of oxygen concentrators to the State Minister for Health and Population Umesh Shrestha amid a function organized at the premise of the Ministry today- 31st August 2021.

The Republic of Korea supported 378 units of Oxygen Concentrator worth US $604,500 to Nepal. 

At the events, the State Minister Shrestha expressed “Thankful” from the Government of Nepal as well as from his personal to the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Ambassador for a meaningful medical-items support.

“The medical aid will be distributed to those hospitals having shortage of oxygen supply,” State Minister Shrestha affirmed and hoped that the support will be continued in the future too.

Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Park said that Korea has always considered Nepal as one of its close friends and has always extended its supportive hands to Nepal.

“Korea will continue its support in various sectors of Nepal’s development,” he added and hoped that “each of these equipment will be dispatched to the hospitals where they are most needed and effectively utilized.”

KOICA decided to support these oxygen concentrators based on the request made by the Ministry of Health and Population.

A 9 liters per minute capacity high flow oxygen concentrator manufactured in the USA will be provided 280 units to MoHP, 3 units Methinkot Hospital through KAAN, 15 units to Nepal Korea Friendship Municipality Hospital, 10 units to Trishuli Hospital, 25 units to Kathmandu University, 25 units to Dhulikhel Hospital, 15 units to Tikapur Hospital and 5 units to Mugu Hospital.

The Government of the Republic of Korea through KOICA has been supporting Nepal

KOICA has already supported US various medical- items aid (includes over 57,000 complete sets of RT PCR test kits, PPE, mask, sanitizer, surgical gloves, thermometers) worth of US $726,000 to Nepal since beginning 2020 that Nepal begun to saw COVID-19 disease.

Meanwhile, KOICA-KAAN also donated 3 units of Oxygen Concentrator to Methinkot Hospital.
