It is on the air of the USA that most of the Americans want President Joe Biden not to seek reelection. So, fulfilling the wishes of those voters President Biden decided to step down announcing that he was ending his November 5 reelection bid,
Then after many days of speculation of the candidate of the Democratic Party for the upcoming US Presidential Election on November 5, 2024 President Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor.
Immediately after, according to a video released by Harris’ campaign, her nominee was endorsed by President Barack and Michelle Obama.
Later, the major Democratic Party figures including President Clinton and Hillary have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president.
Now after all, running US Vice President Kamala Harris won the threshold needed to win the Democratic party’s presidential nomination on Friday.
Daughter of Asia’s Indian mother and Africa’s Jamaican father, a 59-year-old Harris secured votes from 2,350 delegates crossing the needed threshold. The Democratic Party will formally announce her name at a Democratic Party Convention to be held in Chicago on August 19.
Harris is expected to announce her running mate among Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA), Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.), and Gov. Andy Beshear (D-Ky.) who are widely seen by Democrats as the top contenders in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
Harris began her career as a prosecutor and spent nearly three decades in law enforcement. She started as a local prosecutor, became district attorney of San Francisco, and was elected California attorney general in 2011. Also, she became the second Black woman ever elected to the US Senate.
Her attempt to run for the presidential election in 2020, ended abruptly. But later, Biden took her as running mate and became Vice President.
Biden himself had two failed presidential campaigns in 1988 and 2008 before his 2020 victory.
Presidents like George H.W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, and Richard Nixon all became president after losing earlier bids.
If Harris wins, she will set history as the first women President of the United States as a progressive, female president.
