After discussing a 10-hour long meeting Israel’s Security Cabinet endorsed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s proposal to take control of Gaza City early Friday morning.

Aiming to disarmament Hamas terrorists group; return of all hostages either living or deceased, demilitarization of the Gaza Strip where currently around one million Palestinians reside, Israel’s control over Gaza, and establishment of a civilian government that will not be connection or controlled by Hamas or the Palestinian Authority, the Security Cabinet plan includes the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) providing humanitarian aid to civilian populations outside combat zones.

Meanwhile, President Trumps’ special envoy Steve Witkoff’s briefing after coming back from Israel field visit US President Donald Trump’s administration gives green light to Israel saying “US will not intervene in the Israeli government’s decisions to take control of Gaza City.”

Till date, 147 out of 193 countries in the United Nations have already said they will recognize a Palestinian as a state.

Currently Palestinian is an Observer Status at the United Nations.

In the wake of the United Kingdom’s declaration to formally recognize a Palestinian state during the coming UN’s General Assembly in September, US Vice President J.D. Vance, while meeting with the United Kingdom’s Foreign Secretary David Lammy in London on Friday has reiterated that the U.S. has no plans to recognize a Palestinian state.

In the meantime, UN Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed grave concern saying Israel’s military takeover of Gaza City would mark ‘a dangerous escalation.’

According to the statement released on Friday by the UN Chief’s Spokesperson, the UN chief warned that Israel’s move to control over Gaza will result in an unimaginable suffering of more lives as well as the destructive situation.

“Thus, appealing for a permanent ceasefire across Gaza city urging unconditional release of all hostages immediately the UN Chief also strongly urged Israel to abide by international and humanitarian laws.

In another news, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz says Germany will not authorize exports of military equipment that could be used in Gaza “until further notice.” Germany is second largest arms supplier to Israel.

Hamas-led militants attacked Israeli parts in the early morning of October 7, 2023. The Hamas attacks claimed nearly 1,200 people.

Among the 251 hostages abducted by the terrorist group on that day still 50 hostages are remaining with them including Nepal’s Bipin Joshi. But according to the unconfirmed sources more than half of those in captivity in Gaza are believed to be alive yet. On the other side, over 60,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israel’s forces, Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza reports.
