As the wave among the people on the road against the MCC are growing Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali has reiterated that the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) will be endorsed by the Parliament.
Minister Gyawali was speaking at the ruling Nepal Communist Party’s (NCP) Standing Committee meeting recently and was decided to endorse MCC by making necessary amendments.

The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is an innovative and independent U.S. foreign assistance agency established by the US Congress in 2004, applying a new philosophy toward foreign aid.
MCC is helping lead the fight against global poverty by providing time-limited grants that promote economic growth, reduce poverty, and strengthen institutions. These investments not only support stability and prosperity in partner countries but also enhance American interests.
Earlier, the NCP had formed a three-member task force comprising party senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal, Standing Committee member Bhim Bahadur Rawal and Pradeep Kumar Gyawali to go through the MCC and give report. Coordinator Khanal and Rawal were against the idea of endorsing the MCC Compact, while Gyawali has argued that Nepal should endorse it.
However, the report was presented with the recommending needs to amend some of the clauses.
