The provision that foreign tourists coming to Nepal from Tribhuvan International Airport have to carry cash for the ‘On Arrival Visa’ obtained from the airport has been repealed.
A few days ago, the airport immigration office published a notice saying that because of a problem with the electronic payment service machines tourists need to have US dollars 200 in cash for obtaining an ‘on arrival visa’.
According to the airport office, the current provision of carrying cash has been scrapped after widespread protests over the information.

Hence, according to the Manager at TIA Prem Nath Thakur, the provisions of carrying cash for on-arrival visas has been removed.
According to the immigration office of the airport, two ATM machines and two POS machines of Rastriya Banijya Bank were added at Tribhuvan International Airport for the convenience of foreign tourists.
Earlier, there was only one ATM machine at Tribhuvan International Airport and the problem arose after the machine stopped reading MasterCard.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority at Tribhuvan International Airport, the ATM machines of Rastriya Banijya Bank has been kept in the passenger departure hall to solve the problem seen in electronic payment for on-arrival visa
