Britain for Nepal’s green recovery

Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Nepal Ms. Nicola Pollitt has said that Britain is working for the ambitious outcome of Nepal at the 26th Conference of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) (COP-26).

The COP-26 conference will be held in November next year in the United Kingdom.

Ms. Pollitt is the first woman British Ambassador to Nepal in more than two hundred years.

British envoy writes in her Twitter media in the Nepali language saying “Nepal’s mountains have provided water to millions of people but glaciers are melting rapidly due to climate change.” “Thus, the United Kingdom is involving aiming to bring ambitious results to COP-26 by assisting Nepal in green recovery,”, she writes.

Also, UK Minister of State for South Asia and Commonwealth, Tariq Ahmad had discussed the issue with Shakti Bahadur Basnet, Minister for Forest and Environment and Secretary at the Ministry along with other stakeholders via virtual conference.

The United Kingdom has committed US $400m to help Nepal in renewable & tackle climate change-related hazards, it said.
