Again prohibitory order in Kathmandu Valley till Sept 9

After keeping the citizens inside the home for two weeks, again the government today extended the ongoing prohibitory order for a week –till September 9 in the Kathmandu Valley (Kathmandu, Lalitpur & Bhaktapur districts).

After the meeting of the three Chief District Officers (CDOs) of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur today, the CDOs recommended to the Ministry of Home Affairs to extend the prohibitory order for another a week.

According to Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population, the Kathmandu Valley sees 388 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

As per the order regulations, services and businesses other than daily necessity and essential ones will not be allowed to operate in the Kathmandu Valley till the prohibition days.

Meanwhile, the authorities have made public the list of goods and services that will be exempted during the restriction.

According to Kathmandu District Administration Office, the shops of daily necessity items will be allowed to open till 11 AM. Services such as seeds, meat products, grains and veterinary, bank, insurance, pharmaceutical items, other health related items, drinking water, gas, petroleum products, waste management etc. will allowed to operate, the administration office said.

It is also decided to allow transportation of construction materials and take-away of food from hotels and restaurants.

Ambulances/fire engines, diplomatic missions, postal or telephone services, print or government printing related works, communication services, media, electricity services, vehicles carrying death rites can be operated during the period.

If wedding happens only 7 people can be attended during the period.

Apart from this, those working on the management of quarantine and isolation of COVID-19 will be allowed to move if they showed their identity cards with photo and supporting materials, said the source.
