The first batch consisting of ninety-nine Nepali labourers flew to Israel Wednesday- January 19 evening.

The workers will work as “auxiliary workers in the caregiver sector” in Israel.

Among the one thousand workers (70% females and 30% males) were selected testing various examinations and processes in October last year, now the remaining lucky winner aspiring workers are in the pipeline to leave for Israel within the next month.

They will be serving at long-term care facilities – geriatric homes in Israel in accordance with the Government-to-Government (G2G) agreement between Nepal and Israel, said the press release of the Israeli Embassy in Kathmandu.

It may be noted that the Governments of Israel and Nepal had inked a Memorandum of Understanding on labor pact on September 30, 2020 in Israel. As per the agreement, Israel had agreed to hire Nepali workers.

According to the information, there will be an employment agreement between the individuals selected by the PIBA and the employer. The contract period for selected workers will be of one year and it could be extended up to five years.

The workers will be provided accommodation by the employer but have to manage food on their own, information sources revealed.

They were also given orientation classes about various aspects of Israel from January 14 to 16 by the Ambassador of Israel to Nepal Hanan Goder, it said.

Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha, representatives of the concerned ministries and the Ambassador of Israel to Nepal Hanan Goder bid farewell at the Tribhuvan International Airport to the first batch of Nepali laborers.
